Have you created an awesome TikTok video and do you want to share it with your friends on your Snapchat story? Or perhaps you’ve come across an absolutely amazing TikTok clip made by someone else and want to spread the video to share the fun? In any case, posting TikTok videos on your Snapchat story isn’t always super straightforward, but there are some tricks and tips you can use to get those TikTok videos on your Snap story.
About TikTok and Snapchat
While both of these apps are extremely popular, there are certainly a number of differences too. While TikTok aims for a much broader and public audience, where people can follow each other and build an audience, Snapchat is more meant for a select few friends or acquaintances. In a way, Snapchat can feel a lot more personal, and it also has a bunch of features that TikTok doesn’t have. Some of the video filters between both social media platforms are quite similar, but most people would argue that the selection of video filters is much better on TikTok. Perhaps you’d like to use these superior video editing features of TikTok, but still, share them on your Snapchat story.
Let’s find out what the best options are to make that happen.
Can you actually post TikTok videos on your Snapchat story?
Well, the answer is yes.
But there’s a catch: you’ll need to do a bit of work, and it isn’t as easy as just hitting the ‘share’ button. You can’t press the share button to export the TikTok video straight away to your Snapchat story, but you’ll have to get your hands on the video first and then upload it to your personal Snap story.

It makes sense that this functionality isn’t available right from the get-go. Even though TikTok and Snapchat are quite distinct, they’re still each other competitors and will battle for your attention, trying to lure people to their own network.
How to download your TikTok video onto your smartphone or tablet
Luckily, downloading TikTok videos is definitely not hard at all, especially if you’re the creator of the videos. Just go ahead and open up the video that you wish to share on your Snapchat story, and follow the steps below.

- Make sure that the video you want to share is open
- Go ahead and click the ‘Share icon’, it should be on the bottom right of the screen
- You’ll see ‘Save Video’ in the menu that pops up, go ahead and press it
- The video will now be saved in your gallery or camera roll, this might take a few seconds depending on the length and quality of the video
What if I can’t download someone else’s TikTok video?
Sometimes, you won’t see the ‘Save Video’ option in the menu, making it a lot more difficult to share that cool TikTok you’ve seen with your friends on your Snapchat story. You could potentially still share it with a link, but it’s just not the same as a story.
Luckily, there are still some ways to download these unsaveable TikTok videos onto your smartphone – just check out our dedicated article over here: How to save videos on TikTok when it’s disabled.
