Without a shadow of a doubt, TikTok has taken the entire digital world by storm. It’s being reported that the app, made by Chinese developer Bytedance, has amassed over a billion monthly active users – and that’s not even taking China into account, since they have their own local version of the app.
Of course, app development is something that is a continuous process, and every social media platform adds new features or changes things over time. Before releasing those changes to the general public, a lot of companies opt to enroll users into a beta program so that they can test out new features on a smaller scale. In a nutshell, that’s exactly what TikTok Testers is.
So what exactly is TikTok Testers?
The simple answer is that TikTok Testers are essentially beta users of the application, who will receive new features and important updates before the general public does.
The purpose is to discover if these new features or the new version of the app work well, just to make sure that the rest of the TikTok community will have a great user experience when these new features are launched globally.
Of course, whenever you’re developing or writing code for an app, there also tend to appear a lot of bugs. TikTok Testers can report these bugs and mistakes directly to the development team so that these bugs and annoyances can be removed before everyone receives the update.
What are the benefits of being a TikTok Tester, do you get paid?
The benefit of being a tester is pretty much the same thing that you’d expect from any beta program: you get early access to all of TikTok’s newest features before your friends do. Even though TikTok relies on you and other testers to report bugs, there certainly isn’t any other compensation for users enrolled in the program.
You won’t get paid for testing out new features on TikTok as a tester – but you do get the perk of having a sneak peek of all the new stuff that’ll come to TikTok. But did you know that you can gain TikTok Rewards (redeemable for gift cards) for doing other things such as referring users or simply being active? Here’s our full guide to TikTok Rewards.
Additionally, aside from testing out some of the cooler new stuff that’s coming to TikTok, you’ll also be in direct contact with the developers to pitch your own ideas and remarks about the popular video-sharing app. It’s a unique possibility to let your voice be heard amongst the makers of TikTok.
While a lot of people may believe that TikTok is simply leeching off its beta users, it’s actually a very common practice in the technology world not to provide any compensation for test programs.
Is the TikTok Testers program safe?
Generally, TikTok Testers is most definitely safe. It’s completely official and a built-in feature of the application, and you won’t need to download or install anything shady or suspicious.
TikTok Testers is the official beta program and should be treated as a newer, not completely finished version of the app. Of course, that’s where you come in.
That being said, beta software should always be considered less stable than a general release. You probably won’t have any serious problems and nobody has ever reported any for TikTok Testers, but it is possible that you’ll experience crashes or unexpected behavior (such as your TikToks not being saved properly or disappearing suddenly, for example) in the beta version of the app.
Generally, these bugs are squashed rather quickly but do take into account that things like these can happen.

- Follow the Google Play Store link or follow the “Join the Beta” instructions for TikTok

As you can see, there are a lot fewer steps involved here and you’ll get on TikTok testers a lot quicker.
Is it possible to leave TikTok Testers?
Of course! You can find out how to leave TikTok Testers right here. On Android, simply de-install the beta version of the app, and head back to the Play Store to install the regular version. You’ll be back to the same app that everyone uses.
There are a few more steps involved on iOS. If you want to get out of TikTok Testers on iPhone, do the following:
- Open the Testflight application again, and head over to TikTok
- At the bottom, you’ll find a “Stop Testing” button
- There will be a pop-up notification to confirm your choice
- The beta testing will now stop, but you’ll have to go to the App Store again to re-download the regular version of TikTok
Don’t worry, you won’t lose any data when you get out of TikTok Testers.
TikTok Testers is basically a fancy name for the app’s beta program, which users can freely sign up for both on iOS and Android. When you’re a TikTok Tester, you’ll be able to try out new features before everyone else, report bugs, and suggest new features. You won’t get paid for it, but it’s pretty cool to get a sneak peek at everything. You can also leave TikTok Testers whenever you’d like.
